Today, the 2025 first-degree graduates of Hawassa University’s Department of Journalism and Communication were celebrated in a ceremony attended by the department’s instructors and students.
During the ceremony, Mr. Argaw Ayele, the Founder and Executive Director of the Global Peace Bank Association, was invited as a guest of honor. In his congratulatory message to the graduates, he highlighted the close relationship between Global Peace Bank and the academic department, describing the bond with this year’s graduating students as familial.
Mr. Argaw noted that the department’s students are known for their close engagement with children from the Ebenzer Supporting and Development Association, celebrating holidays together as a family. He also emphasized that the academic department has been a key partner in Global Peace Bank’s peacebuilding initiatives. He further mentioned that Global Peace Bank has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Hawassa University’s Department of Journalism and Communication to strengthen and institutionalize their collaboration. Mr. Argaw expressed his belief that this year’s graduates will serve as ambassadors of Global Peace Bank wherever they go.
Also present at the ceremony was Mr. Dayamo Dale, Director of Peacebuilding and Promotion at Global Peace Bank. He expressed pride in his acquaintance with this year’s graduates and praised their professional competence and skills. Mr. Dayamo noted that as these graduates transition from student life to society, Ethiopia’s community is in a critical period where fostering a culture of tolerance and accommodating diverse perspectives is essential. He expressed confidence that the graduates, equipped with their professional training and ethical values, will make tangible contributions to building a culture of tolerance and peace in society.
During the program, representatives of the Journalism and Communication Students’ Association thanked Mr. Argaw Ayele for his contributions to the association and presented him with a certificate of appreciation and an award.
