Global Peace Bank Manager Mr. Argaw Ayele Awarded Leadership Title by Bane Community June 25, 2025 (Global Peace Bank News) --- Dayamo Dale Daga

Mr. Argaw Ayele, the founder and manager of Global Peace Bank, has been honored with the leadership title of "Bita" by the Bane community.

Mr. Argaw was granted the rank of "Younger Brother of the Chief Leader" and received the "Bita" leadership title through the chief leader of the Bane community. This decision was announced during a ceremony held on June 21, 2025, in Bori Kebele, the residence of the Bane community's chief leader, located in the South Ethiopia Region, South Omo Zone, Benatsemay Woreda.

Bita Lale, the chief leader, explained in detail the reasons for granting Mr. Argaw this leadership title. He highlighted that Mr. Argaw’s activities through the Ebenezer Supporting and Development Association and Global Peace Bank continue the humanitarian and peace-building efforts previously undertaken by Bita Adnew Garsho, the current chief leader’s grandfather.

Bita Lale noted that Bita Adnew Garsho was particularly remembered for stopping harmful practices known as "Mingi" performed on children within the Bane community, distinguishing him among other local leaders. Additionally, Bita Adnew Garsho was recognized for ending ongoing conflicts with neighboring Male and Mursi communities through reconciliation ceremonies. The peace established during his leadership has endured, ensuring continued harmony among these communities. Bita Lalay stated that Mr. Argaw’s leadership of Global Peace Bank, which promotes the principle of "Neighbors First," aligns with and validates these efforts.

During the ceremony, Mr. Aike Zombe, representing the Benatsemay Woreda chief administrator, described the leadership title conferred on Mr. Argaw as carrying significant meaning. He emphasized that Mr. Argaw’s future engagement with the community will be rooted in its cultural values, and he will serve as an ambassador for the Bane community among other communities.

Mrs. Wante Zombe, who attended the ceremony, highlighted that Mr. Argaw’s efforts in taking in, raising, and educating children labeled as "Mingi" have earned him great respect, particularly among Bane community women, enabling these children to lead better lives.

The Ebenezer Supporting and Development Association is known for collecting, raising, and educating children labeled as "Mingi" from communities in the Lower Omo Valley, including the Bane. Meanwhile, Global Peace Bank is recognized for its extensive collaboration with these communities in traditional conflict resolution and peace-building efforts.
