The Peace Promotion and Peace Building Department of the Global Peace Bank is dedicated to fostering harmony and preventing conflicts among various ethno-cultural groups within the country. One of its primary functions is to conduct thorough research to identify traditional conflict resolution and peace-building mechanisms. These mechanisms, rooted in the rich cultural heritage of the nation's diverse communities, offer valuable insights into resolving disputes and fostering unity. By tapping into these traditional practices, the department aims to build a comprehensive framework for peace that is both culturally relevant and effective.
A critical aspect of the department's work involves identifying communities vulnerable to violent conflicts and preparing strategic plans to prevent the occurrence of violence. These plans are developed from the perspective of the Global Peace Bank, focusing on proactive measures to maintain peace. The department also identifies and involves religious leaders in its conflict resolution programs, leveraging their influence to promote peaceful coexistence. Traditional community elders and senior citizens are also engaged in these activities, as their wisdom and authority can significantly contribute to resolving conflicts.
The department organizes reconciliation-centered conflict resolution forums in areas where violent conflict has occurred, providing a platform for open dialogue and mutual understanding. In times of crisis, the department mobilizes and delivers emergency relief assistance to communities and citizens affected by man-made and natural disasters. Additionally, it assists communities in undertaking environmental conservation and natural resource management activities aimed at peace-building and peace preservation. This holistic approach not only addresses immediate needs but also ensures long-term stability and resilience within communities, reinforcing the department’s commitment to fostering sustainable peace.
